Spring is Sprung!

Spring is definitely here! I seen a field full of swans on my drive back from Pincher Creek on Saturday and noticed the meadowlarks singing from the fence line in front of the yard.

Not much snow left on the prairie, hard to believe we had a couple of feet of snow this winter!

The yard it almost bone dry, I can't wait until the grass starts to green up.

Except for right behind the house the yard is dry. The mound has already been fertilized, thanks to the deer!

The Easter Bunny came early to our house, in fact I got summoned to the bathroom the other morning to "check a butt" and seen her sitting on the toilet!

Erinn's reading everything in site, including one of my old favourites!

Blair brought home a life-sized leprechaun that he made at school.

Kirby modelling an Easter Egg basket she made.

Ringo with her new additions.

A black one...

... and a white one! The kids haven't seen them to name them yet.

A ring-necked pheasant strutting through the backyard.
A couple of our evening visitors, fertilizing the lawn!

Another rough week at the office!

After spending the first 3 days in the office catching up on paperwork, my partner and I finally made it out to our mobile office last week!

Still taking calls!

Smile! Setting up a trail camera at an intercept feeding site.

Hiking back out, what a beautiful day!

Snowshoeing into the back country.

Me with the Pincher Creek Valley in the background.

The snow was deep, good thing we brought our snowshoes!

Another trail camera set and ready to go.

With this job its hard to keep my patrol truck clean.

New Camper!

A couple of years ago Carolyn & I decided to upgrade our camper to a larger one where she wouldn't have to make & un-make our bed in. Well we finally found the ideal trailer and the best deal.

Today Blair (who was sick) & I brought the new trailer home. If you look close you'll see a deer leg sticking out the back of the truck; I had to pick up carcasses today in Medicine Hat, so I was driving around all day with dead deer in the back!

The trailer has a huge slide-out on it.

Another shot of the slide-out.

The thing is very spacious compared to our other one, the LCD tv spins around so we can watch it in bed. This will be my living accommodations starting next month until we sell the acreage.

It has a nice big kitchen area.

A huge horse-shoe shaped dining table that folds down to be a coffee table for in front of the couch.

Bunk beds for Blair & Erinn; Kirby will be sleeping on the foldout couch!

Leprechaun Trap

Last week Erinn made a Leprechaun Trap.
She put some chocolate gold coins in the trap for bait and got dad to make a snare.

We were gone to Saskatoon on St. Patrick's Day, but when Erinn went to school the following day she found her gold ate and this note from the Leprechaun.

Annual Ice Fishing Trip

Blair & I just got back from our annual ice fishing trip to Saskatchewan.

Tims for the road!

Uncle Trent loading up Blair and the Catley kids.

Heading out onto Last Mountain Lake on the back of the truck.

Uncle Trent helping Blair haul in a big one.

The smile says it all!

A 16 pounder! Wow!

Blair was so excited, he didn't want to put it back down the hole. It measured 37 inches long.

Dad's little fish; a 13 pounder!

Cousin Dale showed up for the day.

Blair & Tye keeping warm in the ice fishing shack.

A beautiful day for fishing!
The Zimmer boyz with an ugly burbot!

New Do!

Today we headed out to Bow Island so that Carolyn & Erinn could get their hair cut. Erinn was so excited because she has been waiting for quite a while to get it cut short.

Carolyn's dirty van!

Tiger coming for a visit.
Before the cut.

Have a good look!

Wow! She's a new girl.

Nice and short. She was so happy because now she can brush it herself.

Blair found Papa's slingshot.

Nice form! Too bad he ended up shooting himself in the arm which resulted in a huge welt and a couple of hours of icing it to bring the swelling down.

It was a beautiful day, sunny and +8. As you can see the kids were having fun in the wet, melting snow!
